We’re just shy of being one month into Fortnite Season 8 now and we’re about to receive the second major update in the form of 18.20. The previous update was huge despite not making too many sweeping changes to the game.
We’re expecting a similarly huge update once again with 18.20 which is now on the staging servers. Here’s everything we know so far about the next Fortnite Update!
LATEST – Days to go
The Fortnite 18.20 update will be with us on Tuesday, 12 October meaning there will be server downtime soon.
We usually get confirmation of the update the night before via the Official Fortnite Twitter account.
Fortnite Update 18.20 Release Date & Time
We’re expecting Fortnite Update 18.20 to release on Tuesday, 12 October. Whenever an update is uploaded to staging servers, it’s typically due the following Tuesday.
There will be the usual server downtime alongside the patch. Servers should go down at 09:00 BST / 04:00 EST / 01:00 PST. We usually get confirmation of this the night before the update takes place. The downtime can sometimes last anywhere up to 3 hours but last weeks update saw servers return after just 60 minutes.
There were some abnormalities with the download size of Fortnite Update 18.10. It was double the size on Xbox and Nintendo consoles. No explanation was given for this but it was most likely down to overall file optimisation issues.
There’s no indication that the same issue will occur for this update. The overall file size should be under 5GB like most updates, so no need to panic too much about clearing extra space on your hard drive.
Some brand new Fortnitemares content and skins are likely to be added during update 18.20. New skins are being teased using Tarot cards and one of these cards looks like it’s teasing Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead.
This would be another huge collaboration for Fortnite and could also be hinting at more than just one character. We can also see Negen’s Bat and Michonne’s Katana on the card!
